DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University competitive cheer team made history Friday, winning the program's first-ever national championship in the Intermediate All-Girl Open division as part of the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Hannah Philson and the Cougars tallied a preliminary score of 89.3784 on Thursday and an 85.0741 in the finals on Friday, concluding the two-day event with a total score of 86.1482.
The Spring Arbor cheer program is in its third year of existence and was making its first appearance at the NCA College National Championships.
