Dan Draper

Dan Draper enters his fourth year with the Cougar track and field program coaching the hurdles, high jump and javelin events. In his first year, he oversaw the vast improvement of the hurdle events with two new school records (women 60H and 100H), three national qualifiers (women 60H and 100H, men 110H), and four all-conference awards. Coach Draper also helped guide the NAIA national runner-up and Crossroads League champion in the women's indoor high jump. In javelin, Draper assisted with the quick development by adding two women throwers to the SAU all-time top 10 list.

Prior to SAU, he was the head coach for 11 years and assistant coach for 3 years at Hanover-Horton HS. During that span, he helped coach 85 all-state athletes, 65 school records, 45 academic all-state athletes, 35 college athletes, 11 conference championships, 5 regional titles, and 5 individual state champions.

Prior to Hanover-Horton, Draper was an assistant coach at Adrian College for two seasons and coached hurdles, javelin, and pole vault for the Bulldogs. As a collegiate athlete at Alma College, he primarily was a hurdler but later developed into a decathlete during his last two years. Coach Draper is married to his amazing wife Kelly and has a four year old daughter. Currently, he is the assistant principal for the Jackson Area Career Center and serves on the executive boards for Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan, the Top Teacher of Jackson, and the Jackson Commercial Contractors Association.
