Men's Tennis falls to Cornerstone in season finale

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team ended its 2015-16 season with a 7-2 loss at the hands of Cornerstone University on Tuesday at the Cougar Tennis Courts.

Spring Arbor battled at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles but the teams of Nick Romano and Jesse DeBoer, and Jacob Byrd and Thomas Hall ultimately fell by identical 8-5 scores. Cornerstone (12-10) would go on to take the third doubles match to grab a 3-0 advantage heading to singles.

In singles competition, Romano and Tony Mayotte secured two points for the Cougars. Romano, the reigning Crossroads League Player of the Week, defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 while Mayotte capped his career with a thrilling 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win at No. 6.

Spring Arbor finished the campaign with a 9-15 record – the most wins by the Cougars since the 2012-13 season.
