Lady Cougars Run Win Streak to Four Games

After a tough beginning to the season, the SAU women's basketball team has put together a nice four game win streak in the middle of it. The Grace College Lancers became the latest victim, as they fell 67-64 at the Spring Arbor University fieldhoues last night.

Spring Arbor used a very balanced attack, nearly putting all five starters in double figures.

Senior point guard Shanna Grubaugh (right) led the way for the Lady Cougs, knicking down 6 of her 12 attempts from the floor and all four of her attempts from the charity stripe for a team high total of 16 points.

Sharp shooter Megan Raavi was also solid, as she knocked down 3 of seven from three point land and finished with 15 points to go along with 5 boards and 3 assists.

Sophomore guard Kara Buehrer also turned in a righteous performance, pouring in 10 points and passing out 4 assists.

Jenna Sharp and Kristen Miller were the other two SAU starters, and each contributed 8 points on the evening.

In a fast paced game that featured 49 turnovers between the two teams, SAU was able to make the difference with their shooting, hitting on 50% (24 of 48) from the field and nearly 80% (15 of 19) from the free throw line. The Spring Arbor defense held Grace to just 35% (20 of 56) from the floor for the night.

Next up for Spring Arbor is a trip to Mishawaka, Indiana to take on the Lady Pilots of Bethel College on Saturday, January 7th. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
