Foresters steal one from Lady Cougars

Kristen MillerThe Spring Arbor University women's basketball team thought that they had the Huntington University Foresters right where they wanted them. Up by nine points late in the second half the Cougars seemed to be on their way to avenging the 15 point loss that the Foresters had handed them at the St. Xavier Holiday Classic just after Christmas. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the lead that they held for the majority of the game quickly evaporated and Spring Arbor ended up on the outside looking in at a 59-62 defeat.

Kristen Miller continued to be hot on the offensive end of the court, knocking down 8 of her 14 attempts and finishing with a team high 16 points. Jen Moor also had a solid game contributing 13 points while junior point guard Kara Buehrer added 10. Junior post Stacie Maier chipped in with seven points and a game high 10 rebounds.

"We played well, we simpoy did not make the easy baskets that we needed to make to put them away as the game closed out," commented SAU head coach Tara Krelau. "Our post play continues to get better, we just needed to make those key shots to get the result that we wanted."

Spring Arbor moves to 9-10 on the year with the loss and Huntington improves to 10-7.

The Lady Cougars welcome Rochester College to campus on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip off before hitting the road to take on conference foe Taylor University on Saturday.
