Playing their fourth game in five days you would have thought that the Spring Arbor University men's basketball team would go away quietly after falling behind by 13 points in the first half and trailing 37-28 at the intermission. However, the Cougars showed some toughness as they re-grouped and took charge in the second half building a seven point advantage 52-45. Unfortunately, cold shooting doomed Spring Arbor as they were unable to connect on several good looks down the stretch. SAU shot just 38 percent from the field for the game.
Senior Rob Boss who was selected to the all-tournament team scored a game-high 18 points and junior DJ Baisden added 15 points.
"I give Cornerstone credit, they are a good basketball team," commented head coach Ryan Cottingham. "I was pleased with how well we competed this weekend. I'm confident that we'll start knocking down the open looks. I like the direction we are headed."
The Spring Arbor men's basketball team is off until Friday when the travel to Columbus, OH to play NCAA division II Ohio Dominican. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
