The Spring Arbor University Cougars stumbled on the road Saturday afternoon as they fell 74-70 to the Olivet College Comets. Junior DJ Baisden scored a game-high 20 points and seniors Richard Blair and Rob Boss added 16 points and 12 points respectively but it wasn't enough to overcome a 36-20 deficit on the boards.
Although the Cougars outscored the Comets in the second half, Spring Arbor ran out of time to make up the 42-34 deficit from the first half. Spring Arbor shot 50% from the field while Olivet was close behind shooting 49%.
"Olivet outplayed us and they deserved to win," commented head coach Ryan Cottingham.
SAU returns to the court on Tuesday night when they host long-time rival Albion College at 7:00pm.
Spring Arbor is partnering with the Parma Lions Club to collect canned food items for needy families in the area. Admission for the game will be at least one can of food. Donations are also being accepted.
