Lady Cougars Drop Conference Tilt

The Spring Arbor women's basketball team traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a tough MCC matchup against the NAIA #23 ranked University of Saint Francis Cougars.

The first half was more tightly contested than the second half. St. Francis led SAU by just 12 points, (35-23) at the intermission. However, the gap widened in the second half and St. Francis ended up running away with the game, 84-48.

Some key players for the Cougars were Junior Melissa Tejkl with 12 points and a total of nine rebounds. Following Tejkl was freshman Kelly Bruggeman with six points and three rebounds. Another freshman, Kate Gricar, also had six points and grabbed two boards for SAU.

"We played a pretty decent first half," commented SAU head coach Tara Kreklau.  "St. Francis is an athletic team, and we did not take care of the ball or execute well in the second half due to their pressure.  But we can take some positives from how we played in the first twenty minutes and look to build on them moving forward."

The Cougars look forward to their next game on Saturday, December 5, away at Taylor University at 1:00 p.m.
