The Lady Cougars clawed to keep up with Grace College, but fell short in the end . The team trailed by just one point at the half (31-32), giving them a good chance to clinch the lead in the second half. Grace capitalized on every opportunity, and the Cougars could not keep up. The final score was 52-66. Freshman Alex Glenn led the team with 17 points, in front of her hometown crowd. Junior Melissa Tejkl added 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior Kristin Kotarba added eight points and controlled the boards with nine rebounds.
"We are disappointed with the loss." Commented head coach Tara Kreklau. "We played well, we did not shoot well enough in the second half. We did not finish plays like we should have. The final score certainly does not reflect how close the game truly was. We are continuing to get better."
The Lady Cougars are currently 4-21 overall and 2-12 in the MCC with two games remaining in the regular season.
The Lady Cougars will travel to Huntington on Saturday, February 23, for a 1:00pm tip-off.
