Cougars Chop Down Foresters

Richard Blair, Rob Boss, Aaron List, and Jared List went out in style on Saturday as they celebrated senior day with an impressive 79-64 triumph over the Huntington University Foresters. The Cougars avenged a a 73-64 defeat to the Foresters earlier in the season.

SAU improves to 21-8 overall and 10-5 in MCC play and currently sit in fourth place. Mathematically, Spring Arbor can finish somewhere between first and fourth place and will host at least one game in the conference tournament. Indiana Wesleyan sits alone in first place with three losses while Bethel and St. Francis are tied for second with four defeats. All three teams have two games remaining with Bethel and St. Francis meeting on the final day of the season.

The four seniors combined for 37 points and 16 rebounds as Boss scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Blair netted 12 points.

"It was a great day for our four seniors," commented SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham. "They are phenomenal young men and that have represented our program with the highest degree of integrity for the past four years."

Juniors DJ Baisden and Willie Pickvet scored 19 points and 11 points respectively while freshman Matt VanPelt dished out a game-high six assists.

Spring Arbor has a bye on Tuesday night and will close out the regular season next Saturday at Goshen College.
