Goshen Squeaks by Cougars

The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team fell on the road in Goshen, Indiana over the weekend as the Goshen College Maple Leafs flexed their home court muscles and squeaked by the Cougars 87-78.

Three Spring Arbor players scored in double digits, as senior Rob Boss led the way with an impressive 24 point, seven rebound effort. DJ Baisden chipped in with 18 points and three rebounds while junior Willie Pickvet poured in 11 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds.

The Cougars shot a respectable 44% (29-66) for the game but could not slow down the MCC Player of the Year Errick McCollum who tallied 30 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots in the contest.

"We played well," commented SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham. "Errick McCollum is a special player who had a great night. Goshen is a good team, and he certainly makes the difference for them. I was pleased with our effort and intensity and would have liked to see us get the result however winning on conference games on the road in the MCC is an uphill climb regardless of where you're playing."

NAIA #19 Spring Arbor finishes their conference regular season with a 10-6 conference record and will hold the third seed in the upcoming MCC Conference tournament. The Cougars will host #6 seeded Grace College on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m. Spring Arbor won both meetings between the two teams this season.
