The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team couldn't
buy a field goal in the second half and it proved to be costly. The Cougars lost a 37-33 halftime lead over
Grace College by shooting only 31% from the field in the second half including
0 for 6 from 3 point range. The final
score was Grace College 69, Spring Arbor 60.
The loss dropped the Cougars record to 11-10 and 3-4 in the
MCC. Grace improved their record to 13-6
and 4-2 in the MCC.
DJ Baisden led all scorers with 23 points and 4 assists in
the game. Chris Bellamy added 15 points,
6 rebounds, and Willie Pickvet scored 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Pickvet entered the game needing 6 points to become the 38th
player in Spring Arbor University history to score 1000 points in their career. With 16:03 left in the 2nd half
Pickvet hit 1 of two free throws to reach the milestone 1000th
point. Pickvet would finish the game
with 1004 points.
The loss was the third in a row for the Spring Arbor who
will play at home on Saturday when Huntington College visits the Arbor for a
3:00 starting time.
