SPRING ARBOR, MI - For first year Head Coach Ryan Frost, the plan was simple. Getting back to the basics and setting the tone early against a pesky University of Michigan-Dearborn team. Check both off the list as the Cougars built an early 17-10 lead after six minutes of play and never looked back defeating the Wolves of U of M Dearborn 82-67.

"This was just a great team effort," said Frost. "We had four players in double figures, and shot the ball very well from beyond the arc. We had great contributions from Ashley Stelter, Sarah Wellman, and Angela Russell coming off the bench.

Jessica Garrison lead all scorers in the game with 23 points hitting 8 of 15 shots from the field and teamed up with the hot shooting Audra Norris who pumped in 21 points as she hit five of seven from beyond the three point line.

As a team the Cougars connected on 9 of 14 (.643) three point shots.

Freshman Michaela Robichaud dished out eight assists and Megan Bement had seven passes that led to Cougar baskets. Bement also scored 15 points for Spring Arbor. Russell was the fourth Cougar in doule digits knocking down 11 points on 3 of 4 three pointers.

"I thought we did a really good job of playing inside of our system, working the ball around which led to us getting some baskets inside of that so, all in all, it was a good effort," continued Frost. "We look forward to getting on the road and facing Rochester on Wednesday night."

The win give Spring Arbor a 1-0 record and will take on Rochester at 5:30 on November 2.
