SPRING ARBOR, MI - In the game between 14th ranked
University of Saint Francis Cougars, Senior guard Angela Russell hit six of
twelve 3-pointers. But none were bigger
than the one she hit with 4.4 seconds left on the clock to give Spring Arbor
the lead and the 61-59 victory over the MCC foe.
The Cougars victory snapped a five game losing skid in which
Spring Arbor was within a bucket at the midway point of the second half of all
five games.
It looked like this game was going to slip away as well as
Spring Arbor held a six point lead (58-52) with 1:47 left in the game but St.
Francis chipped away and then took the lead 58-59 with 0:33 to set up the drama
for Russell's big shot.
Russell led all scorers in the game with her 18 points and
Jessica Garrison added 10 points.
The Cougars out-rebounded St. Francis 43-36 with the help of
Megan Bement's nine rebounds and Audra Norris's seven rebounds.
Freshman, Michaela Robichaud dished out seven assists for
Spring Abror.
"This is great win for our program," stated Head Coach, Ryan
Frost. "I am so happy for our girls. You worked together for 40
minute and good things happen. Angela had a great look at the end and
nailed a big shot. Now we have to take this and build on it."
The Lady Cougars are on the road again for an MCC matchup
with Marian University on Saturday, December 3rd. Game time is set for 1:00
