Lady Cougars Defeated to End Season

MARION, IN - Spring Arbor University's women's basketball season ended at Indiana Wesleyan University with a disappointing 63-31 defeat, knocking them out of the MCC post season tournament. The Loss was the 14th straight for the Cougars and 17th of the last 18 games.

Spring arbor was led by Kate Bement with 10 points playing in her last game as a Cougar. Unfortunately for the Cougars other senior, Melissa Tejkl was forced to sit out her last game due to a concussion she suffered in the Huntington game.

Indiana Wesleyan (25-5) will move on to play Huntington Friday night in Marion, IN.

The Cougars finish with a record of 8 wins against 23 losses in a season that started out with a lot of promise. Injuries and the losses of key players made the home stretch very difficult for the Lady Cougars to overcome.

"The effort was there and I was very proud of how the ladies played," said Head Coach Tara Kreklau. "Indiana Wesleyan is a very good basketball team and you have to give them all the credit they deserve."

Junior, Angela Russell and Freshman Heather Carlson both shot the ball well in the last 4 games. Eac of them were over 45% from beyond the arc with Carlson hitting 6 of 13 (46.2%) 3-pointers and Russell connecting on 5 of 11 (45.5%) of her threes.
