MISHAWAKA, IN - Senior DJ Baisden was feeling it Saturday afternoon
at Bethel College as Spring Arbor University defeated the Pilots 67-53 to win their
second straight and four of the last five games. Baisden connected on 10 of 22 shots from the
field, including 5 of 13 from beyond the 3-point arc to score a game high 28
points.
Spring Arbor (15-12, 7-6) had four players score in double
digits with Baisden's 28, Willie Pickvet continued his solid play adding 14 points and 9 rebounds, Chris
Bellamy added 11 points, and Matt Howe was four of five from the field chipping
in with 10 points.
A month ago, Spring Arbor lost to Bethel (13-14, 3-10) 59-61
as a Basiden 3-pointer, for the win, missed its mark in the last second. The outcome for this game wasn't nearly as
nerve wracking. Baisden hit one of two
free throws with 6:10 remaining in the game to put Spring Arbor up by 10 points
and the Cougars would never lose the double digit lead.
Spring Arbor only had 6 players score points in the game as
Matt VanPelt chipped in with 2 points, but he bolstered his performance with 6
assists with only 2 turnovers. Matt
Carden, the only player to score off the bench added 2 points.
Spring Arbor will play its last home of the season on
Tuesday night against league leading Indiana Wesleyan University (22-4) who
suffered their first MCC loss 93-77 to Huntington University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00
