Lady Cougars Start Winning Streak


GOSHEN, IN - For the first time this season, the Lady Cougars have a winning streak. Spring Arbor defeated Goshen College 66-63 in overtime. The win was critical for the Cougars as it moved Spring Arbor into a tie for 7th place with Taylor University. The top eight teams in the MCC qualify for the post season conference tournament.

Spring Arbor enjoyed a balanced scoring attack having five Cougars finishing the game in double digits. There have been several games without any Cougars achieving that number.

Audra Norris led the way for Spring Arbor with 14 points, Jessica Garrison and Megan Bement scored 12 points each, Angela Russell added 11 points and Ashley Stelter chipped in with 10 points.

"It wasn't pretty but we gutted out a good conference win," said coach Ryan Frost. "We made some big free throws and made good defensive stops down the stretch to get this win."

Goshen's Jaime Stack led all scorers and rebounders with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Spring Arbor improved to 7-12 overall and 3-5 in the MCC while Goshen fell to 3-17 and has yet to pick up a conference win in eight tries.

Spring Arbor will return home Wednesday night for a match-up with Taylor University The game starts at 7:00
