Women's Tennis advances to round two in Crossroads Tournament

SPRING ARBOR, MI - Spring Arbor's women's tennis team continues to roll with their 6th straight win downing Taylor University 6-3 in the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament.

The Lady Cougars advance to the second round of the tournament and will travel to Indiana Wesleyan University on Thursday. Spring Arbor will have its work cut out for them as IWU is 13-0, including a 7-1 win over the Cougars on August 30. Individually, the Wildcats have only lost just three matches to Crossroads opponents all year long, one to Spring Arbor and two to Marian.

Spring Arbor started with singles and split the six flights with Taylor as Kristin DeBruyn (6-1, 6-0), Hope Roelofs (7-5, 6-1), and Quincy Banini (6-0, 6-1) all won their matches.

Doubles had to have two of the three flight to win to secure the win and advance, but the Cougars did better than that by sweeping the doubles 8-2 at one doubles, 8-4 at two doubles, and 8-1 at three doubles.

The victory improves Spring Arbor's record to 7-3 while Taylor drops to 5-8.
