SPRING ARBOR, MI – It was looking very good for the lady Cougars after the first 20 minutes of play leading the visiting Saints of Siena Height University 33-27 at halftime on Thursday night. The Cougars were hot, shooting the lights out from 3-point range at a clip of 8-14 shots for 57%. But Spring Arbor left the locker room and wouldn't hit a field goal for 14:33 in the second half and would end up falling to the Saints 60-50.
It was a tough loss for the Cougars who showed signs of fantastic play, sharply moving the ball and keeping Siena Heights on their heels. Then, the Cougars enjoyed picture perfect shooting from all around the court.
During the first half from the 3-point zone, Carlie Newman was 3-4, Jessica Garrison was 3-3, Alex Glenn hot her only shot from 3-point land, and Shelby Peterson was 1-4 for a total of eight 3-pointer in the first stanza.
Newman would lead all scorers in the game finishing with 15 points while hauling down eight rebounds and Glenn would add 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks for the Cougars.
The loss drops Spring Arbor to 2-3 on the year and will start Crossroads League action on Tuesday of next week with Bethel College at home. It will be the last of six straight home contests for Spring Arbor. The game will start at 7:00
