SPRING ARBOR, Mich – In a defensive battle between Spring Arbor University and the University of Saint Francis, the Cougars of the Fort Wayne, IN school got the best of the Cougars of Spring Arbor 56-44 on Tuesday night.
No Cougars reached the double digit plateau in points with Matt Howe and freshman, Xavier Prather leading the way for Spring Arbor with eight points each. Howe and Chris Bellamy led the Cougars with six rebounds each.
St. Francis forward Scott Kohne recorded seven blocks during the game.
Spring Arbor trailed USF 31-18 after the first half of play while shooting only 26.9% from the field. The host Cougars Shot the ball much better after the break and outscored St. Francis 26-25 hitting 48% of their shots. Prather scored all of his eight points after intermission.
The loss drops the Cougars to 5-3 on the year and 0-2 in Crossroads League action while St. Francis improved to 6-2 and 2-0.
Spring Arbor will resume play on Saturday when they make the long trip to Marian University in Indianapolis, IN for a 3:00 tip with the Knights.
