Mens hoops fall to Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Spring Arbor University men's basketball team just couldn't get anything going in the Crossroads/WHAC Challenge against Cornerstone University Friday night in Grand Rapids, MI.  The Cougars fell to the golden Eagles 66-56 shooting just 37% (18-48) from the field including just 1-9 from 3-point land.

Spring Arbor was led my Matt Howe's 16 points and Chris Bellamy's 15 points as the only Cougars in Double figures in the scoring department.

Matt Carden led all rebounders in the game hauling in 10 boards.

"We played poorly tonight and didn't take care of the basketball," said Coach Ryan Cottingham.  Spring Arbor committed a season high 19 turnovers to Cornerstone's 12.

The Cougars held a 34-29 advantage after the first half of play shooting over 44% from the field, but the second half the percentage dropped to 26%. "Our shot selection was bad," continued Cottingham.

The Cougars played in the late game of the Crossroads/WHAC opening night as Indiana Wesleyan faced Aquinas in the 6:00 game.  IWU got the better of the Saints 63-60.

Spring Arbor will have to regroup quickly has they will play Aquinas College tomorrow afternoon at 1:00
