SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Lady Cougars held their own against the Marian University Knights for most of the first half on Saturday afternoon, but would eventually fall short losing to Marian 55-41.
Spring Arbor held a one point lead 16-15 with 7:40 remaining in the first half and last tied the Knights 19-19 with 2:55 to go before the break before Marian out-scored Spring Arbor 9-4 in the remaining minutes lifting Marian to a 28-23 lead at the break.
After giving up the first six points coming out of the half, the Cougars would get as close as seven points with 10 minutes to go, but wouldn't be able to close the gap any further in the game.
Carlie Newman would lead all scorers in the game with 16 points including hitting 3-5 shots from 3-point range.
Five Cougars had two assists or more in the game.
The loss dropped Spring Arbor to 2-6 on the year, and 0-3 in Crossroads Action.
