ADRIAN, MI - The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team opened the spring season with an impressive 8-1 victory over Adrian College on the road. The win leveled the Cougars record to 6-6 over the school year and was the fifth win in the last six matches for the Ladies.
"I'm so proud of these girls," said Head Coach, Peggy Calderone. "They played at such a high level and with Kelly (Smith) out everybody moved up the lineup and just played so strong."
Kristin DeBruyn moved up to the number one slot and dominated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 to improve her record to 5-4 over the school year. This was her first match at number one singles.
The Lady Cougars are off until March 7th when they take on Alma College which will be played indoors on the campus of Michigan State University. They will then head to Hilton Head Island, SC for several matches and to prepare for the outdoor spring season.
