MARION, IN - In what would turn out to be a defensive dual
between Spring Arbor University and Indiana Wesleyan, the Wildcats got revenge
on the Cougars 57-48 on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. Spring Arbor defeated IWU 70-64 on January 5.
Spring Arbor shot only 33% from the field hitting 18 of 54
shots, and what would have to be one of the more unusual stat lines of a
college basketball game, neither SAU nor IWU connected on any 3-point shot in
the game. Spring Arbor was 0-12 while the
Wildcats were 0-5 from deep range.
Matt Howe achieved the double-double scoring 10 points and
grabbing 10 rebounds in the loss for Spring Arbor. Rob Hogans and Chris Bellamy each scored 10
points as well.
The loss was the fourth straight for the Cougars who fell to
15-11, and 6-8 in the MCC. Indiana
Wesleyan improved to 17-9 and 9-5.
Spring Arbor will return home for a Tuesday night game with
Taylor University. Tip off time is 7:00
p.m.
