Cougars Comeback Effort Just Short

SPRING ARBOR, MI - The Spring Arbor men's basketball team came up just short in the final few minutes to Taylor University 74-65. After trailing by 10, 32-22 at halftime, the Cougars would storm back and tie the game at 40-40, but would never be able to overtake the Trojans for the comeback win.

The Cougars (15-12, 6-9) were led by sophomore, Rob Hogans with a game high 19 points on 7-12 shooting from the field. Chris Bellamy's 16 points and Matt Howe's 13 were the other Cougars scoring in double digits in the contest.

Taylor University (17-9, 6-8) had four Trojans scoring in the double digits led by Jake Burkholder with 19, Casey Coons with 16, Josh Riikonen with 12 and Tommy Peller with 11. Taylor only had seven players see any playing time.

With three games left on the schedule, the Cougars find themselves in a bit of a pickle as they now sit in 9th place in the MCC. Remaining on the schedule is Goshen on the road on Saturday and then next week's two home games with Mount Vernon on Tuesday night and Huntington on Saturday. Depending on how Bethel, Huntington, and Taylor finish up will determine the lineup for post season play.

But if we have learned anything about the MCC this season is that anything can, and will happen in the topsy-turvy world of MCC Basketball.

Game time for Saturday's road game in Goshen, IN for the Cougars is set for 3:00
