Tenth Ranked Lady Cougars Play to 1-1 Tie with #3 Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - As Yogi Berra once said, it was deju vu all over again for the Spring Arbor University women's soccer team and Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders. Last year, the two highly ranked teams would face off to start the season and after 90 minutes of regular time and two overtime periods, the game would end in a 1-1 tie.

This season, to kick off the year, the two highly ranked teams would once again face each other, this time in Kentucky. The highly anticipated match was named the NAIA game of the week, and once again the two would play for 90 minutes of regular time and two overtime periods, and the game would end once again, in a 1-1 tie.

Lindsey Wilson would draw first blood fairly late in the second half in the 72nd minute when Mai Persson would score to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.

The home squad would commit a penalty in the box in the 84th minute which resulted in a direct kick from Becca Lynn. Lynn's shot would find the mark and the game was tied and would remain that way for the remainder of the game.

The Cougars would hold an edge in shots (7-6) and corner kicks (11-8).

The Lady Cougars played hard for 110 minutes and went toe to toe with one of the best programs in the country and desperately tried to win one for Coach Jason Crist. Crist, after arriving in Kentucky for the game learned of the passing of his mother after a long illness.

Spring Arbor will return home for a game on Saturday, September 1 at 2:00pm against Asbury University.
