SPRING ARBOR, MI - Spring Arbor's women's tennis team got
back on the winning side of a Crossroads League match against Goshen College on
Tuesday afternoon on the home courts on the SAU campus.
Winning for Spring Arbor was Hope Roelofs (2 singles 6-1,
6-1), Jenna Bart (3 singles 6-0, 6-1), Quincy Banini (4 singles 6-0, 6-0),
Kelli Cross (5 singles 6-4, 6-1), Katie Storrer (6 singles 6-0, 6-1), and
doubles teams of Cross and Banini (2 doubles 8-5), and Storrer and Bart (3
doubles 8-2).
The match of the day, however came at the #1 singles spot as
Kristin DeBruyn battled with Goshen's Anika Baumgartner in a marathon 3
setter. Goshen would ultimately take the
point 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
"I am so proud of Kristin for the way she battled in this
match," said Coach Peggy Calderone. "The
points that those two played were unbelievable.
The pace, and determination that Kristin was playing was amazing. I have never seen her play so well."
The win for Spring Arbor bettered their record to 2-3 on the
year.
The Lady Cougars are back in action on Thursday afternoon in
non-league action against Alma College.
The match is set for 4:00pm.
