SPRING ARBOR, Mich - Spring Arbor's women's team hadn't
played a match in 12 days because of rain-outs and cancellations, and Head
Coach Peggy Calderone was hoping that the layoff wouldn't hurt the momentum the
Lady Cougars had going after a 7-2 win over Alma College on September 13.
But Spring Arbor came out of the gate swinging and took
control early with a 2-1 edge in the doubles with #1, and #3 doubles teams of
Kristin DeBruyn and Hope Roelofs at #1, and Katie Storrer, and Jenna Bart at #3
won their matches.
Spring Arbor dominated the singles matches as five of the
six matches went the Cougars way. DeBruyn, Roelofs, Bart, Quincy Banini, and
Storrer all won their matches in straight sets.
The Ladies are now 4-3 on the season and 3-3 in the Crossroads
League and have two matches remaining before the Crossroads League Tournament
which starts October 2nd.
Spring Arbor will travel to Upland, IN for a re-scheduled
match with Taylor on Thursday afternoon.
Taylor is 4-3 in the CL.
