Lady Cougars chop down Foresters

SPRING ARBOR, MI - Finally! After three attempts to get the match in between Spring Arbor University and Huntington University in women's tennis, there is finally a winner. Spring Arbor came out on top of the match with a 7-2 win over the Foresters and the final seedings for the Crossroads Tournament are set.

Picking up where they left off 11 days ago, the Lady Cougars completed the sweep in the three doubles matches 8-6, 8-6, 8-2 in #1, #2, and #3 doubles respectively. Kristin DeBruyn and Hope Roelofs at #1, Quincy Banini and Paige Fallu at #2, and Katie Storrer and Jenna Bart at #3 are the lineups in doubles.

In singles, Jenna Bart (6-2, 6-2), Quincy Banini (6-2, 6-0), Kelli Cross (6-2, 6-2), and Katie Storrer (6-0, 6-0) all picked up relatively quick wins at the #3 through #6 singles spots to secure the victory for Spring Arbor.


Kelli Cross drives a back hand against Huntington

Kristin DeBruyn (6-4, 6-3) and Hope Roelofs (7-5, 6-3) both lost tough decisions at #1 and #2 singles. The matches were very competitive and could have gone either way.

The win lifted the Cougars record to 6-3 (5-3) and secured a #4 seed in the post season Crossroads Tournament and will host Taylor University on Tuesday, October 2nd. The match will start at 2:00 with singles action leading the way. Spring Arbor defeated Taylor 6-3 just last Thursday in Upland and will play the winner of the Indiana Wesleyan vs. Huntington match. The winners will face of on Thursday att he higher seeds home courts.
