GOSHEN, IN – Two days removed from one of their worst shooting nights, the Cougars shot 50% from the field on their way to dismantling the Maples Leafs 81-66 on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Goshen College.
Chris Bellamy led the Cougars on the offensive end with 29 points on 12-21 shooting from the field.
But the man of the hour was senior Matt Howe who scored 12 points and hauled in a season high 16 rebounds. Howe entered the game with 597 career rebounds needing only three to punch his membership card into the 600 rebound club. Howe becomes only the 20th person in Spring Arbor University history to haul in 600 rebounds.
Matt Van Pelt continues his sold play this year pouring in 13 points and assisting on three other scores.
Spring Arbor out-rebounded the Maple Leafs 45-35 in the game.
Spring Arbor improves to 13-7 and 3-5 for the year while Goshen falls to 7-12 and 0-8. The Cougars will face Taylor University at home on Tuesday night with a tip off time set for 7:00
