Lady Cougars upset bid falls short against USF - Revised

SPRING ARBOR, MI – For most of the first half of Spring Arbor's women's basketball game with the visiting University of St. Francis Cougars, SAU held their own against the #6 ranked Cougars from Fort Wayne.  USF would eventually hand Spring Arbor a 20 point loss by taking the game 66-46.

Spring Arbor played about as solid as they have all year long for 20 minutes and was leading the game 23-22 with 3:39 left in the first half until St. Francis made a lay-up to put the Lady Cougars behind for good, and eventually at the half with the home Cougars trailing 26-31.  USF pulled away from Spring Arbor starting the second half with a 13-4 run and the Cougars could never recover.

Jenna Jamieson led the Cougars with 14 points hitting 6 of 11 shots and Carlie Newman added nine points, Alex Glenn scored seven points, and Jessica Garrison chipped in with six points.

Ana Byrens had three blocks in the game for the Cougars.

Spring Arbor falls to 8-15, and 2-9 in the Crossroads League while St. Francis improves to 21-2, and 10-1 remains tied with 10-1 and NAIA top ranked Indiana Wesleyan.  SAU will travel to Indianapolis to face Marion University on Saturday for a 1:00 matchup with the Knights
