Women's Tennis wins third straight match, clinch fourth seed in Crossroads League Tournament

FORT WAYNE, IN – For the second straight year, the Spring Arbor University women's tennis team will enter the Crossroads League post-season tournament as the fourth seed, and host the first round match in the Crossroads League Tournament.  The Cougars earned the seed by defeating the University of St. Francis 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Fort Wayne, IN.

The win, the third straight for SAU, improved the Cougars record to 5-3 overall and in the Crossroads League and placed them in the fourth in the standings.

Winners for Spring Arbor included singles players Quincy Banini (6-1, 6-1), Mary-Kate McShane (6-4, 6-1), and Paige Fallu (forfeit).  All three doubles teams also racked up wins including Hope Roelofs and Banini (8-3), Jenna Bart and Katie Storrer (8-6), and McShane and Fallu (forfeit).

Spring Arbor will draw Grace College, who still has to play Marian University on Thursday with the outcome of that match having no effect on the standings for either team as they have tie-breaker advantages with the teams they are tied with.  Spring Arbor defeated Grace 8-1 in Spring Arbor during the regular season.

The first round of the Crossroads League tournament will take place on Tuesday, October 1st.  The Spring Arbor and Grace winner will play the winner of Indiana Wesleyan vs. Bethel.
