MARION, IN – The Cougars, Xavier Prather scored the first basket of the game between Spring Arbor and Indiana Wesleyan, but the Wildcats were on fire for the rest of the half as they built a 51-27 halftime lead on their way to a 92-61 win over the Cougars on Saturday afternoon in Marion, IN.
It was one of those days for Spring Arbor where nothing is falling your way and survive to battle another day. IWU largest lead of the day was 33 points early in the second half, and the Wildcats cruised in from there. The starting five for Indiana Wesleyan all scored double digits with the leader, Lane Mahurin at 16 points.
Spring Arbor's and the Crossroads League leading scorer, Rob Hogans poured in a game high 25 points, hauled in six rebounds, dished out three assists, and ripped off three steals in his busy afternoon.
Thomas Starks scored 13 points as grabbed five rebounds and Tyler Hughes scored nine points and five boards before fouling out of the game with five fouls.
The Cougars drop to 9-11 for the season and 4-4 on CL play, IWU is now tied for second place in the CL standings with a 6-2 mark. Grace upset Huntington today 81-76 in Winona Lake, IN and the Foresters of Huntington drop out of the lead into a tie with IWU at 6-2.
Spring Arbor will travel to Indianapolis, IN for a tilt with Marian University on Tuesday night for a 7:00 ball game with the 4-3 Knights.
