Cougars Battle MVNU to Scoreless Draw

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team played Crossroads League rival Mount Vernon Nazarene University to a scoreless draw in double overtime on Saturday – the third draw of the season.

The result sees the Cougars move to 8-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 conference play while MVNU goes to 7-3-2 and 2-0-1.

Goalkeeper Cobi Piper was outstanding between the pipes turning away 12 shots, which matched his season-high. Junior Stevenson Storm led SAU with four shots, putting two on frame, while Adam Hunt tallied three.

"It was a very tough match and a really hard place to play," said head coach Nathan Miller. "We will definitely regret not putting away some of those chances. We need to work hard on that area right now, but conceding one goal in three conference games is very good. I believe the guys will come back and have a fantastic week next week. We are that kind of team."

Spring Arbor returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8 when it hosts Grace College at 7 p.m.
