SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team stormed past the University of Saint Francis 9-0 in its season debut on Tuesday evening.
The match got started later than scheduled due to a weather delay, but that didn't slow down the Cougars, who cruised through doubles play to start the match. Junior Quincy Banini and Senior Erin Hossack won 8-2 at No. 1. The senior pair of Hope Roelofs and Katie Storrer, and sophomore Mary-Kate McShane and freshman Monika Wynne , won by identical scores of 8-1 at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Spring Arbor's dominance carried over to singles action where the Cougars won every match in straight sets. At No. 1, Banini came out on top 6-3, 6-2 while Roelofs won 6-3, 6-2 and Hossack was victorious 6-3, 6-4.
Storrer defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 position and McShane and Wynne rounded out the contingent with matching 6-0, 6-1 wins.
The Cougars are back in action at Bethel College on Saturday, Aug. 30 beginning at 11 a.m.
