MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team cruised past Bethel College 8-1 on Saturday.
The Cougars swept the singles competition with all six spots prevailing in straight sets. At No. 1, junior Quincy Banini battled it out to win 7-5 in her first set. She carried that momentum over to clinch the win with a 6-2 second set. Senior Hope Roelofs won 6-2, 6-1 and senior Erin Hossack defeated Taryn Johnson 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Senior Katie Storrer completed a 6-0, 6-3 victory, while sophomore Mary-Kate McShane came out on top 6-3, 6-0 and freshman Monika Wynne won 6-1, 6-0.
The success carried over to doubles as well with the pair of Roelofs and Storrer, and McShane and Wynne, blanking their opponents 8-0.
The Cougars are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Taylor University. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
