CINCINNATI – The 14th ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team scored three first half goals en route to a 5-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian University in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
The win moves the Cougars to 5-1-1 on the season while the Eagles' record dipped to 2-5-1.
Sophomore Corrie Good got the scoring started for SAU with a goal in the 7th minute. Less than two minutes later freshman Renee Broekhuizen found the back of the net to boost the lead to 2-0. Freshman Aubrey Schierbeek scored the third goal of the half as the Cougars would take a 3-0 advantage into halftime.
Following the break, junior Shannon Balcer tallied her third goal of the season in the 55th minute to push the lead to four. Fellow junior Nikki Bonnema capped the night with a goal in the 81st minute.
Balcer, Good, Bonnema all added assists on the night along with Kristina Sobel and Jennie Humbach.
The Cougars dominated the match with 33 shots, including 21 on target, compared to only one by CCU. SAU also held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
Spring Arbor will host #RV Westminster College of Salt Lake City on Monday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. to conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule.
