SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team wrapped up the Crossroads League regular season schedule on Saturday, defeating Huntington University 7-2.
The win boosted SAU's record to 6-2 on the year, and in the Crossroads, which is one of the best marks posted by a Cougars team in program history. Meanwhile, the Foresters dropped to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
The Cougars started the day getting straight set wins from Katie Storrer, Mary-Kate McShane and Monika Wynne at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Huntington would take the next two matches at No. 2 and No. 3, but Quincy Banini would overcome an opening set loss to defeat her opponent 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 on the No. 1 court.
Spring Arbor would cruise through doubles competition. Banini and Erin Hossack earned an 8-3 victory at No. 1 while Storrer and Hope Roelofs prevailed 8-2. McShane and Wynne completed the sweep, winning 8-1.
The Cougars will host Lake Superior State University on Friday, Sept. 26 in a tune-up match before the competing in the Crossroads League Tournament on Sept. 30.
