INDIANAPOLIS – In a battle of the Crossroads League's only remaining unbeatens, the Spring Arbor University women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end after falling to Marian University 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Marian (5-0, 5-0 Crossroads) won the first doubles match of the day 8-2 to take an early lead, but Quincy Banini and Erin Hossack, as well as Hope Roelofs and Katie Storrer, gave the Knights all they could handle on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Despite battling hard, Marian edged the Cougars 8-6 in both matches to sweep the doubles matches.
The Knights carried the momentum over to singles play, claiming five of the six matches to seal the victory. Freshman Monika Wynne earned the lone point for the Cougars, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1.
After playing four consecutive matches on the road, Spring Arbor (4-1, 4-1 Crossroads) finally returns home to host Goshen College on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m.
