Women's Tennis Edges Local Rival Albion

ALBION, Mich. – A pair of three-set wins by senior Erin Hossack and freshman Monika Wynne helped the Spring Arbor University women's tennis team claim a 6-3 victory over local rival Albion College on Wednesday.

Hossack won a tie-breaker to jump on top of her opponent at No. 3 singles. After AC's Lauren Rasmussen answered to even the match at one set apiece, Hossack battled back to take the third set 6-4. Meanwhile, Wynne kept her unbeaten streak alive – capturing her 12th straight win – after a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 victory at No. 6 singles.

Katie Storrer and Mary-Kate McShane also prevailed in singles play. Storrer defeated Olivia Conover 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 while McShane cruised past Jessica Scott 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.

The Cougars started the afternoon strong with two victories in doubles action. Senior Hope Roelofs and Storrer edged out the duo of Rasmussen and Conover 8-6 on the No. 2 court, and the pair of McShane and Wynne defeated their opponents 8-2 at No. 3.

Up next, the Cougars will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina where they will play four matches five days beginning with Westminster College (PA) on Monday, Mar. 9 at 11 a.m.
