SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A stumble out of the gate wound up costing the Spring Arbor University women's basketball team in its Tuesday night non-conference matchup with Indiana University Kokomo, as the visitors pulled ahead early and never trailed, defeating the Cougars by a 56-44 count inside the SAU Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Indiana Kokomo opened the game on an 11-0 run and would never surrender its lead.
- The visitors led 34-19 at halftime, and led by as many as 17 in the third quarter. Sara White and Gabby Barnett led the Cougars on a late third period run though to close the gap to nine, 44-35, heading into the fourth quarter.
- Indiana Kokomo put a halt to the run by opening the fourth period with five straight points.
FOR SPRING ARBOR
- Autumn Goggin was the leading scorer for SAU with nine points. She also brought down five rebounds.
- Gracie Cabana followed with eight points while Ryann Laier added six to go along with five boards.
- Spring Arbor connected on 30 percent (18-for-59) of its shots from the field.
FOR INDIANA KOKOMO
- Deja Felder and Dejianna Butler paced Indiana Kokomo with 14 points apiece. Felder also recorded eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Butler posted a double-double and hauled in 11 rebounds to go along with her 14 points.
- The visitors shot 38 percent (23-for-60) on the night.
- Indiana Kokomo out-rebounded SAU 48-34.
