SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 3 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team will be returning to Orange Beach, Alabama for the fourth straight season after defeating Asbury University 8-0 in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Asbury came in as winners of three straight with all three matches being shutout victories, including one in the River States Conference Tournament championship match. However, the Eagles were unable to slow down the high-powered Spring Arbor attack as the Cougars scored three goals in a 10-minute span in the first half to put the game out of reach.
- Spring Arbor led 5-0 at halftime before tacking on three goals over the final 45 minutes.
- Junior Bethany Balcer recorded her fourth hat-trick of the season while senior Aubrey Schierbeek tallied two goals and was credited with a career-high four assists.
- Renee Broekhuizen, Casandra Besteman and Abbey Fuller also scored in the match.
- Goalkeepers Ashley Timmons, Allison Keizer and Samantha Tracey combined two post the shutout.
- Spring Arbor finished the match outshooting Asbury 28-3 and had a 10-0 advantage on corner kicks.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Spring Arbor extended its winning streak to four while pushing its unbeaten streak to 14.
- The Cougars went unbeaten at home for the third straight season going a perfect 13-0-0.
- SAU is 5-0-0 in its last five meetings with Asbury.
- The shutout was the 16th of the season for Spring Arbor, which ranks second in the country.
- Balcer's three goals today gave her 33 for the season, which is a new single-season program record. The previous record, which was set by Balcer last season, was 31.
- Schierbeek has 20 assists on the season. That marks ranks second in the NAIA.
- Fuller's goal was her sixth of the season – matching her previous career-high while Broekhuizen tallied her ninth, which also tied her single-season high.
