Cougars pick up lopsided win over Mid-Atlantic Christian

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University knocked down 16 three-pointers in a 120-54 victory over Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Saturday inside the SAU Fieldhouse. The 16 triples were tied for the second-most in a single-game in SAU history.

Senior Drew Zuidema led the way for the Cougars with a career-high 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting, including going 7-for-8 (.875) from behind the three-point line – the highest single-game three-point field goal percentage in the history of the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Spring Arbor bounced back in a big way after suffering its first loss of the season Tuesday night to No.3 Saint Francis. The Cougars scored 120 points, breaking the century mark for the first time this season. The total was also the second-most points scored by SAU in a single game in recorded history.
  • The Cougars shot 58 percent (18-for-31) and hit 11 three-pointers in the first half to build a 51-19 lead at the break on their way to cruising to their ninth win of the season.

 
 

FOR THE COUGARS

  • All 14 players saw action in the contest with 13 Cougars reaching the scoring column.
  • Zuidema added five assists to his 23 points.
  • Jameson Pavelka, Connor Pelham and Zach Medendorp all scored in double figures. Pavelka finished with 18 points with seven rebounds while Pelham poured in 15 points with seven boards. Medendorp recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.
  • Kyle Bartholomew posted a team-high 11 rebounds with seven points.
  • Spring Arbor shot 56 percent (41-for-73) from the field on the afternoon, including a 16-for-33 (49 percent) mark from long range.

 
 

FOR THE MUSTANGS

  • Mid-Atlantic Christian was led by Grayson Tejeda, who collected 16 points and seven boards.
  • The Mustangs were limited to 28 percent (17-for-60) shooting while going just 4-for-22 from behind the three-point line.

 
 

UP NEXT

Spring Arbor returns to Crossroads League play with a trip to No. 15 Taylor University (7-1, 0-1 CL) on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
