HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game was scoreless through the first 53 minutes of action before Huntington broke the deadlock with a go-ahead goal.
  • Spring Arbor never panicked, however, and would erupt for three goals in an eight minute span to take complete control of the match. Senior Janum Sailor, who throughout his career has delivered clutch goals, came through once again with an equalizer in the 59th minute, smashing a volley from inside the 18-yard box into the upper corner of the net.
  • Roderic Green continued his torrid scoring pace with the go-ahead score in the 64th minute, heading home a cross into the box from Jacob Crull. Green, the reigning Crossroads League Offensive Player of the Week, has now scored six goals in his last six matches.
  • Less than two minutes later, Cole Russell put the nail in the coffin with a fantastic goal, slicing his way through several HU defenders before calmly putting a shot past the goalkeeper.
  • Spring Arbor finished the night with 18 shots and held Huntington to just five. The Cougars also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH NATHAN MILLER

  • "We played some fantastic football tonight. That 20-minute span in the second half was so special. Our vertical possession and attacking play were amazing. All the credit goes to the boys. They are playing at an elite level and have put in so much to get to this point. I am very proud."
  • "Coming back from conceding a goal totally against the run of play, our reaction was fantastic."
  • "We had some goals we wanted to accomplish and break some records. 9-0 this league season. 17-1 in two seasons is a first for the league."
  • "This group is just really special. They are unique and have their sights set very high. It's time to recover and get geared up for the tournament."
