SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team suffered a 45-35 loss in its home opener against Rochester College on Tuesday evening inside the McDonald Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rachel Nelson and Anne Marie Wright connected on back-to-back three-pointers to begin the game, helping Spring Arbor race out to a 10-2 advantage.
- Rochester chipped away at the deficit and used an 8-0 run in the second quarter to take the lead, and the Warriors would never relinquish it.
- The Cougars trailed 25-21 at halftime, but the deficit would grow to as many as 16 in the second half.
- Spring Arbor fought its way back, as the SAU defense limited Rochester to just one field goal over an eight minute stretch in the fourth quarter. The Cougars tallied nine unanswered points during the Warrior dry spell, capped by a Wright three-pointer, to make it a 39-32 game with 3:33 to play. The visitors managed to hold off the late charge and remain undefeated on the season.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Nelson had 11 points and seven rebounds while Wright finished with eight points to lead Spring Arbor.
- Ryann Laier added five points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
FOR THE WARRIORS
- Eight of the nine Rochester players that saw action reached the scoring column. Kendra Kujat led the team with nine points, including the game-clinching three-pointer in the final minute.

Spring Arbor will look to bounce back when it hosts Holy Cross College (1-1) on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 12 p.m.
