MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team lost its final regular season game 71-45 to No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana on Saturday.
The Cougars ended the regular season eighth in the league standings and will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament, which is slated to begin Tuesday, Feb. 20.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats led start to finish as they closed out the regular season with their fifth straight victory.
- Indiana Wesleyan opened a 12-4 lead midway through the first quarter, but five straight points from Gabby Barnett, including a three-pointer, closed the gap to three. However, the home team ended the period on a 7-0 run to regain control.
- Spring Arbor got within five, 21-16, early in the second quarter following a bucket from Kaitlyn Shields.
- Indiana Wesleyan countered again though with another lengthy run to break things open. The Wildcats held the Cougars scoreless over the final 7:26 of the second quarter on their way to a 40-18 advantage heading into halftime and would maintain a comfortable margin the rest of the way.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Gracie Cabana posted 15 points, hitting three 3-pointers, to lead Spring Arbor. Faith Johnson followed with six points while Barnett finished with five and four rebounds.
- Anne Marie Wright and Kristina Grace chipped in four points apiece. Grace also ripped down four boards.
- Spring Arbor was held to 27 percent (13-for-48) shooting.
FOR THE WILDCATS
- Four Wildcat players scored in double figures, including Anna Imhoff, who recorded a game-high 18 points.
- The home team scored 48 of their points in the paint and 29 off of SAU turnovers.
- Indiana Wesleyan finished the afternoon shooting 48 percent (27-for-56) from the field.
UP NEXT
The Crossroads League Tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 20. Spring Arbor will be the No. 8 seed for the tournament and will face off against the regular season league champions, and No. 5 ranked, Marian University (28-2, 17-1 CL) in Indianapolis starting at 7 p.m.
