INDIANPOLIS – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team fell to Crossroads League leader, and nationally ranked, Marian University 67-51 on Tuesday night.
Spring Arbor slowed down one of the league's best scoring teams through the first two quarters, and trailed by just one at halftime. After the intermission, however, the No. 7 ranked Knights used a 13-0 run to open up some breathing room and the Cougars were unable to recover.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor went back and forth with No. 7 Marian through the first two quarters. The Cougars played hard defensively, limiting the Knights to just 31 percent shooting in the first period and 27 percent in the second.
- SAU trailed by nine, 23-14, midway through the second quarter, but Rachel Nelson and Anne Marie Wright led the Cougars back, combining for eight consecutive points to trim the deficit to one. A three-pointer from Wright with under a minute to go, gave SAU its first lead of the night, but the Knights answered before the buzzer to regain the lead and take a 27-26 advantage into halftime.
- Marian opened the third quarter red-hot following a struggling first two quarters. The Knights made six of their first eight shots as part of a 13-0 run through the first four minutes of the third period. The home team would outscore Spring Arbor 23-7 in the quarter and maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Wright scored 16 points and made four three-pointers while Nelson followed with 15 points.
- Cierra Lipps added seven points to go along with three assists and Teona Feldpausch finished with four points, three assists and nine rebounds.
- Spring Arbor connected on 35 percent (17-for-49) of its field goal attempts.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Dejah Cyrus recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Macy Willoughby had 16 points off the bench.
- Marian shot just 29 percent (9-for-31) in the first half, but shot 58 percent (15-for-26) in the second half. The Knights were almost perfect from the free throw line, making 14-of-15 attempts.
