SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A night full of close calls ultimately ended in a 1-1 deadlock between Spring Arbor University and Indiana Wesleyan University on a rainy Wednesday evening at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
It was the third draw of the year for the No. 15 ranked Cougars, who moved to 5-3-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the Crossroads League. The Wildcats kept their unbeaten streak alive, now 11 straight matches without a loss, and are 9-1-2 with a 2-0-1 mark in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor grabbed control early with a goal by Morgan Marshall in the ninth minute. A cross from Lexi Ponstein found Marshall at the back post and her shot under the crossbar beat the IWU goalkeeper.
- Indiana Wesleyan turned up the pressure looking for an equalizer. The Wildcats nearly evened the score on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box, but a shot by Kristy Bowden bounced off the crossbar. Moments later however, IWU found the back of the net off of a deflected shot by Lexis Garcia.
- In overtime, Spring Arbor outshot Indiana Wesleyan 3-0 and had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Cougars' best chance came in the closing moments when Kaley Buck got a chance in close, but her shot missed wide.
- Indiana Wesleyan finished with 17 shots compared to SAU's 11. The Cougars ended the night with a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Samantha Tracey made four saves in goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The draw snapped a streak of nine straight wins for Spring Arbor over Indiana Wesleyan dating back to 2013.
- Marshall's goal was her third of the season.
