ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Paul Marandet scored a game-high 25 points to lead the No. 1 ranked Spring Arbor University men's basketball team to a 73-72 road win over Rochester University on Wednesday night.
The Cougars trailed the Warriors by 10 midway through the second half, but the senior floor general took the game over, scoring 17 of his 25 points over the final 9:22 of the contest to fuel the SAU comeback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor and Rochester traded the lead 15 times on Wednesday night. The Warriors held the largest lead of the evening at 10, 60-50, with just over nine minutes to play in the second half.
- The Cougars closed the gap to one, 64-63, with an 11-1 run over a four-minute span behind 10 points from Marandet. Denver Cade gave SAU the lead, 66-64, with an and-one opportunity at the 3:33 mark – the first Cougar lead since the opening minutes of the second half.
- Rochester regained the lead with 1:09 left on the clock, but Marandet answered immediately with a bucket to put the Cougars back in front for good.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Marandet was 9-of-14 from the floor and 7-for-9 at the free throw line on his way to a season-best 25 points. The senior guard also added five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
- Jeff Beckman nearly posted a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds while Cade recorded a career-high 11 points in his first career start.
- Spring Arbor shot 54 percent (27-for-50) on the night and out-rebounded Rochester 33-21.
FOR THE WARRIORS
- Armand Cartwright was Rochester's leading scorer with a game-high 29 points, including four three-pointers. Peter Agba and Abdou Gueye followed with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
- The Warriors' 72 points were a season-low as well as the team's 42 percent (26-for-61) shooting percentage.

Spring Arbor will host Concordia University (2-1) in its home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. and SAU will honor the 2019 national champs with the championship banner unveiling.
