CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Senior Paul Marandet hit the go-ahead shot with two seconds left on the clock and the No. 1 ranked Spring Arbor University men's basketball team escaped with a 66-64 victory over Ohio Christian University on Saturday afternoon.
Marandet was one of four Cougars to score in double figures, leading the way with 13 points. Denver Cade and Luke Barber finished with 11 points apiece and Jeff Beckman added 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor led by as much as 12 in the second half, but Ohio Christian battled its way back.
- The Trailblazers trailed by four with less than one minute to play, but back-to-back tied the score with only 27 seconds remaining.
- Following a timeout, Marandet would hit a jumper in the paint just before the final buzzer.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Marandet posted a team-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Cade and Barber hit three 3-pointers apiece on the way to scoring 11 points each. Barber also added seven boards and four assists. Beckman chipped in 10 points off the bench and grabbed six rebounds.
- Spring Arbor was held to its lowest shooting percentage of the season, shooting 43 percent (24-for-55) from the field.
- The Cougars held a slight advantage in rebounds, 35-33.
FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS
- Jermaine Smith and David Froedge scored 13 points each to lead Ohio Christian. Raybon Lewis recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
- After being held to 28 percent (10-for-35) shooting in the first half, OCU shot 50 percent (14-for-28) in the second half to make its comeback. The Trailblazers connected on 38 percent (24-for-63) of their attempts for the game.
